VERMONT HAZ-MAT TEAM INVESTIGATES LIQUID ON LAMOILLE STREET

(Lamoille Street is located at the very end of Hunt Steet beyond the Sewer Plant)

FAIRFAX - The Vermont Hazardous Materials Response Team spent nearly five hours, Friday night at a home in Fairfax after an unknown liquid was dumped into a pickup truck.

Franklin County Sheriff Robert W. Norris said two people got into the truck at about 9 p.m. at their home on Lamoille Street and noticed an unusual smell, which they reported to authorities. The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department summoned the hazardous materials team, said the liquid was dumped into the truck's air vent. The people were unhurt.

Police have a suspect, Norris said, and will decide early this week what, if any, chanrges might be filed. That will depend in part on what the liquid is determined to be, he said.

Norris said police are investigating whether the substance came from Husky Injection Molding Systems in Milton. He said the suspect, a woman, is "familiar" with Husky.

Emergency crews left the area at about 2 a.m. The street was closed, but no residents were evacuated because the liquid did not pose a danger, Norris said.
